Reception (age 4 - 5)
These resources, which need to be parent/carer or tutor led, consist of mathematical activities based on a series of pictures. There are 60 short lessons, aimed for about 30 mins each, that cover the basic mathematical concepts needed for the Reception year.
The lesson plans are self-explanatory and our advice is to follow them carefully but always be ready to look in more detail, with more practical activities, at any concept that your learner struggles with.
As well as the Learners’ material (see below), which you will need to download and print, there are larger posters available which can be downloaded and printed. Note that these learner resources and posters are in colour but most of the activities can be worked on with black and white printing.

We also provide 21 pages of questions on the key mathematical concepts needed for the transition from Foundation stage to the National Curriculum. We suggest that you use these with your learner(s) towards to the end of their time in Reception, giving help and support where needed to support transition to the national curriculum.
